WWE has set an impressive record for the 2023 Royal Rumble event, which is set for January 28 next year.
The show, WWE’s first pay-per-view of 2023, broke the record for the biggest gate in Royal Rumble history.
The news will come as music to the ears of WWE’s new leadership team of Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan.
Which record does WWE break with Royal Rumble 2023?
Next year’s Royal Rumble will have the largest gate of any Royal Rumble show in WWE history.
This weekend, ticket sales for next year’s Royal Rumble in San Antonio surpassed the $5 million mark, which should be music to the ears of WWE and its fans.
The previous record was held by the 2017 show, which also took place at the Alamodome, showing that the venue is clearly popular for WWE.
This trend has set gate records for several of WWE’s premium live event events from 2022 to 2023, including WrestleMania, Extreme Rules and most recently Crown Jewel earlier in the month.

Latest news on Royal Rumble
At the time of writing, there is no word on what WWE is planning for the Royal Rumble show other than the men’s and women’s Rumble matches.
This year’s men’s match is significant, as the winner of the match, if still champion by April 2023, will challenge Roman Reigns for the undisputed Universal title at WrestleMania 39.
Roman’s rumored opponent at WrestleMania next year is The Rock, leading some fans to speculate that the Hollywood megastar could return to win the big match in January.
However, it’s worth noting that this is just speculation from fans and it’s not 100% reported that The Rock will be returning to WWE anytime soon to win the Rumble match.
The event is always one of the most exciting shows WWE puts on each year and is the first Triple H has booked since becoming the main event in July, which should be the case this year as well.
