James Tynion IV Moves Substack Books to Dark Horse for Print – The Hollywood Reporter

James Tynion IV goes Dark Horse, the comic book author launching a new line that will include works previously published on Substack as well as new material from his Tiny Onion Studios.

Tynion turned heads a year ago when the acclaimed author moved to Substack, leaving his longtime home at DC, where he became a brand writer thanks to his work on Batman and other titles. Since then, they’ve introduced a number of titles on the digital subscription platform, which will now see print for the first time on Dark Horse.

Tynion’s discussions with Dark Horse began earlier this year, when the author wanted a home for what he called his “truly weird” work — based on unusual events such as aliens or the supernatural.

The Strange Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos Hits stores on June 7, 2023. It centers on Christopher Chaos, a lonely teenage mad scientist. When a cute boy in high school turns out to be a deadly beast, Christopher tries to kill them all in a cult world of monsters, heroes and hunters. Tynion created the book, which was written by Tate Bromble, With art by Isaac Goodhart, colors by Kurt Michael Russell and letters by Aditya Bidkar.

Moving forward, some works will appear and print first, while others will appear first on Substack, where Tynion recommends people continue to follow his moves for a more up-to-date look.
