Why does CM Punk have heat with AEW?

Punk originally spoke out to address rumors that his former friend Colt Cabana tried to use his own influence within the promotion to move to Ring of Honor.

Despite being a popular figure in general, it seems Punk’s comments were over the top. He attacked “Hangman” Adam Page as “empty-headed” and “didn’t do a damn thing in this business.”

Several reports from wrestling publications stated that Punk’s comments caused a legitimate fight backstage between him, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Ace Steel; A few weeks later Punk took his arm off in a brace.

Everyone involved was immediately suspended from the promotion by owner Tony Khan, with Punk stripped of his World Championship title. John Moxley won it on September 21st at a Dynamite event, before being defeated by MJF in Full Gear last night.

Punk has yet to return to the promotion, and it is unknown if he will. Ace Steel was released, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were back last night.

If CM Punk’s final fight for the promotion goes all out, it’s definitely not the ending he wanted, even though he’s put his name out there in the headlines.
